Happy 2020 Friends! Here are a few of the reads that I would like to get through before the month is over, this should leave plenty of room for the mood reading that will 100% occur.

Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alix E. Harrow: January Scaller is the ward of one very wealthy Mr. Locke, and as she spends time among the artifacts of his home she finds a strange book. Within its pages she’ll find doors that lead to love, magic, adventure, danger and more. During her journey she discovers that the story she’s experiencing is more intertwined with her own than she realizes.

Riot Baby by Tochi Oneyebuchi: In this dystopian you’ll follow Ella and Kev who are siblings that have powers that could change their world. Their childhood has been marred by the brutality and racism that affects Black Americans, and when Kev gets arrested through their visits and their powers they learn how a revolution could bring everything to the ground.

All The Stars and Teeth by Adalyn Grace: This debut fantasy features Amora Montara who has been training her entire life to be High Animancer, The Master of Souls, in the underwater kingdom of Visidia. When her demonstration goes wrong she has to flee and with help from a pirate named Bastian she’ll prove that she’s fit to rule and Amora will help him get back his powers in return.

Belle Revolté by Linsey Miller: This novel follows Emilie des Marais who would much rather be serving her country as a physician but is stuck learning embroidery and magic and living the life of a quiet noble woman. Annette Boucher is greatly under appreciated and very overworked, she wants nothing more than to learn magic; So when Emilie and Annette cross paths the two decide to switch lives and live as the other for as long as they desire, but war is coming and Emilie and Annette must work as a team to help the rebellion stop a war that should never have been instigated in the first place.

Children of Virtue and Vengeance by Tomi Adeyemi: This is the second installment in the series and after Zélie has brought magic back to Orïsha she has to deal with the rebuild, and the destruction of the ritual while dealing with loss and her resentment over magic. I have no idea what to expect from it but I know it will be a quick read!

Caraval by Stephanie Garber: This novel follows Scarlett, her only dream is that she’ll be able to visit the famous Caraval ( a rare performance where the audience gets to participate) but the year that she receives her ticket her father arranged a marriage for her that could shatter her dreams forever. With the help of a sailor Tella they travel to the show and Tella is kidnapped and Scarlett must find Tella first or risk getting wrapped up in the game.
