Middle Grade Series I read in 2019

Hey y’all! Today I’ll be sharing a few of the middle grade books that I got through this year and yes they’re all winners, I would never steer you guys wrong!

The first middle grade series I sunk my teeth into this year was The Cassidy Blake Series by Victoria Schwab which starts with City of Ghosts. This series features Cassidy Blake, a girl who almost died but was saved by a ghost named Jacob that became her bestfriend. Together with her bestfriend she travels through The Veil and hunts down ghosts. I was surprised by how much I fell in love with this series when I picked up the first book, it’s full of HP references, ghosts hellbent on causing mayhem and side characters that you’ll absolutely adore. The second installment Tunnel of Bones (which I’m currently reading) is even better than the first. It’s a wonderful series and I totally recommend it.

The second series that I read was The Furthermore Series by Tahereh Mafi. If you want a beautifully written non-sensical world to fall into then this is the one for you. I was completely taken with this series and the world that Tahereh Mafi built. It’s scary and magical and makes absolutely no sense but the adventure is everything. The sequel was one of the strongest I’ve read in a middle grade, it was dark and cold and brutal; the way that the characters from the first book were intertwined within the story just made it that much better. I was stunned by the series and hope you’ll love it just as much.

Calling all of my readers with a penchant for the whimsical and wunderous (pun intended if you’ve read the series). The Nevermoor Series by Jessica Townsend was an adorable story with elements and characters that you’re absolutely going to fall in love with. Did I mention there’s a giant talking Cat? In this series you’ll follow Morrigan Crow who from birth was a symbol of bad luck but when she’s whisked away by Jupiter North, her fate changes in ways that she could never imagine. This story is full of competition, magical abilities, and a sinister plot. I have no doubt that you’ll love it! I still need to read book two before book three comes out, I am geeked.
