A few of my anticipated reads…

Kingdom of Souls by Rena Barron is about young Arrah who was born into a powerful family of witch doctors but year after year she fails to call her own power to action. Desperate to prove herself she turns to a deadly trade; magic for years of her life. When the children within the Kingdom begin disappearing Arrah begins a mission to find who is committing such a crime and discovers that The Demon King is planning a return to bring the land to its knees and she is the only who can stop him.

Dear Haiti, Love Alaine by Maika & Maritza Moulite is a novel told through diary entries, letters, articles and emails about Alaine Beauparlant who finds herself suspended from school after a presentation goes awry. Alaine is sent to Haiti and asked to write a report while doing a “spring volunteer immersion project” in which she’ll apprentice under Tati Estelle at a non-profit organization. While in Haiti Alaine’s life is full of mishaps, lessons, and maybe even a bit of romance with the hot intern. Who knows?

The Black Veins by Ashia Monet is about Blythe, a powerful guardian with magic strong enough to cause chaos with a snap of her fingers but Blythe’s life is spent pouring coffee and watching the days pass by until magical anarchist burst into her shop and turn everything upside down. Determined to find the people who kidnapped her family she goes on an adventure with six magical strangers across the States to save them before it’s too late.
