Balance Your Chakras Book Tag πŸ•‰πŸ“š

Hey y’all I’m here again with another original tag! Keeping grounded and balanced is something that is super important to me so I wanted to incorporate something I loved doing (keeping zen) with multiple things I love…BOOKS. Let’s get it πŸ€—

Chakra is a Sanskrit word meaning “circle” which refers to formation and structure of an individual chakra. The 7 chakra model originated around 11 B.C. and has been the most commonly known among yoga and Kundalini enthusiasts. When balancing your chakras you’re focusing on the energy force “Shakti” whose journey is one of wanting to connect with her highest divinity; Shakti sits at your sacral chakra and essentially travels upward until she connects with your crown chakra at her highest point of self-realization.

All of the pictures lead to Goodreads

Sahasrara “The Crown Chakra”-rules consciousness, represented by a lotus with 972 petals

  • A Book that made you more aware after reading:

The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas

This book absolutely shattered my world and repaired it, gun violence is something that is a cause that’s near and dear to my heart because I’ve lost loved ones due to it; Khalil’s death in this book started a revolution and it opened my eyes to the fact that I’m not alone in what I go through as a black woman in this country, it gave me hope and I need to re-read it ASAP. Thomas is a complete and utter GAME CHANGER.

Ajna “Third Eye Chakra”-rules awareness, time & light” represented by a lotus with two petals

  • A Book that traveled through time:

A Murder in Time by Julie McElwain

I picked this book up on a whim a few years back and even though I haven’t picked up the sequel I really enjoyed it’s unique premise and strong female lead. If you like historical fiction with a ton of mystery then you might like this one!

Vishuddha “The Throat Chakra”– rules communication & growth, represented by a lotus with 16 petals

  • A book where communication resolves the conflict:

Odd Spirits by S.T. Gibson

In this lovely occult romance we focus on Rhys and Moira who are currently being plagued by a not so pleasant entity. Through honesty, and patience these two talk their way through struggles in their relationship and exorcising their house! Did I mention Ms. Moira Delacroix is the baddest witch this side of the crossroads?

Anahata “The Heart Chakra”- rules emotions & love, represented by a lotus with 12 petals

  • A Book that made you believe in love again:

Ravenswood #1: A Girl Like Her by Talia Hibbert

Will it be my goal to mention this author in every post? No, but it’ll happen anyways. When Evan Miller rolled into town and swept prickly Ruth Kabbah off of her feet he drug me with him honey. This book was my first romance story in literally ever and it changed my view of the genre (not that it was negative in the first place) Once again this is the part where I tell you to go read Talia Hibbert’s books…so what are you waiting for?

Manipura “The Solar Plexus Chakra”-rules complex emotion and moving of energy, represented by a lotus with ten petals

A Book that dealt with an otherworldly entity:

Beneath The Citadel by Destiny Soria

In this character driven fantasy, a group of teens battle an evil being beneath their citadel that threatens to turn everyone into soulless husks. It’s dark, it’s twisty, it’s suspenseful. And who doesn’t love a magical being that’s gone out of control with madness? Oh yeah, and an ending that’ll rip your heart out.

Swadhisthana “The Sacral Chakra”-rules sexuality and creativity, represented by a lotus with six petals

  • A Book that inspired your creativity:

The Shadowshaper Cypher #1: Shadowshaper by Daniel JosΓ© Older

This book was a Lit Coven pick that was as colorful as it was fantastical. Sierra Santiago is a badass artist that helps save the fate of an ancient warrior line. GO READ IT. It’s chalk zone on steroids.

Muladhara “The Root Chakra”-rules instinct, survival, & security, represented by a lotus with 4 petals

A book about surviving against all odds:

Shatter Me Series #1: Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

I picked this book up impulsively and found it to be beautifully written, I think I’ll finish it one day but Juliette was kind of a lot to deal with so I just called it quits. I totally recommend it though! The main character is totally a survivor and stronger than a lot that I’ve encountered. Great anxiety and OCD rep!
