Blogtober // Summoning Spell

I created this tag simply because I want to know exactly what books I would need to put in a Pentagram to summon you guys back from the Otherside. I tag anyone who would like to participate!

The Books you need to summon me:

─── ・ 。゚☆: *. .* :☆゚. ───

  • Matilda by Roald Dahl- This book and it’s movie defined my childhood. Matilda’s love for books and her resilience against her horrid family and her principal gave me so much strength. The scene where she sneaks into Trunchbull’s house was the most exciting thing ever!
  • To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee- This is hands down my favorite classic book for a lot of reasons. Mainly just because I really connected to the characters and then the representation of racial tensions in the south. I have yet to read Go Set a Watchman because I’m hesitant to read about a racist Atticus Finch.
  • The Everworld Series by K.A. Applegate -this was a series that my older sister and I read together when we were younger and it’s essentially about a group of teenagers fighting mythological creatures and Gods alike to save their friend Senna. It’s a total bloody adventure and super fast paced. Adding this to my list of things to re-read!
  • The Harry Potter Series- Throw any book in this series into the Pentagram to summon me because I will come running. HP was the series that I grew up with, midnight releases, buddy reads, staying up late to finish, you name it. So many hours have been spent on this series and so much love.
  • The Poet X by Acevedo- I will continue to mention this book until I die so deal with it. Xiomara is the strong female lead we all deserve; her strength and passion for poetry was astounding and even finding her way through her struggle with religion was heart wrenching. Go read this book!
  • Obsidio by Jay Kristoff & Amie Kaufman- This sci-fi series revived my love for reading to be honest. I went through a long period of time where I didn’t read and when I picked this book up it was OVER. This series had me throwing the book and crying and screaming and just in awe. I have to say that it was one of the most original things I’ve read!
  • The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas-if I could mention this in every blog post for the rest of my life I totally would. This book highlights a lot of the racial issues that black people experience in the US, the demonization of black men, and having to be black enough for your peers but not too black as to offend your white counterparts. It talks about the tightrope that POC have to walk on to be seen as humans that deserve the same rights. Most importantly it’s about family and coming together when things get hard rather than running away, and finding your voice in the crowd. This movie premieres the 19th of October everywhere!

  1. Those are some great choices! And I love the tag! The Hate U Give is definitely one of mine. I’m having a hard time thinking of the top of my head which ones would be mine cuz I have so many. Gonna go look at my shelves now and figure it out!
