My thoughts:

I am primarily a reader of fantasy and that’s not to say that I don’t ever read fiction. This particular book was sitting on my TBR for over a year and I’m mad at myself for not picking it up sooner. From the beginning of the book I found myself hooked because I honestly forgot what it was about. McManus did such a glorious job with character development, plot, suspense and everything else you can think about. I found myself questioning who I thought did it and then when it’s revealed at the end I was still completely satisfied through the epilogue.

Bronwyn Rojas– I think what I loved most about Bronwyn was her willingness to give up being perfect at the end of it all. She found her truth and she found that it would set her free, at the end she wins the award for most loyal character in this book by far.

Adelaide Prentiss- Addy wins the award for most character development in this book for me. This girl blossomed so much and went from never having a choice of her own to finding her own groove and thriving in it, not to mention that she gets the short end of the stick a lot in this story. I want to praise her and give her a hug and maybe go on a bike ride or two.

Cooper Clay- I would have to say that Cooper wasn’t one of my favorite characters but I found myself invested in him anyways. Cooper has a different kind of struggle in this story and it’s an important one for people to read because it is a reality that a lot of people face.

Nate MacCauley- This bad boy has been through some things you hear me? He does have a heart of gold underneath it all so don’t let him fool you! Nate has the most healing to do and he does have some help throughout the book but at the end you really see him come full circle which I adore.

Simon Kelleher- I feel like he deserves a mention since the book is centered around him after all. The things you find out about Simon through out the book strike me as every single persona of the kid that has outsider syndrome and lashes out. You have to read about what this kid does, mental illness has a huge part in it.

Wrap up:

I loved the incorporation of social media in this book, it really highlighted this day and age and the use was ingenius. McManus also brings light to mental illness and how it comes to affect teenagers and their actions and it is so important to talk about these things. It’s a lot deeper than you would think and this is easily a story I would recommend to anyone.

Happy Reading! โœจ

  1. Ohhh I have wanted to read this book for a few years already! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ I like what you said about the media, but I am not sure if I would like that… I think that depending on the book and the author it could be a failure… haha but this seems not to be the case! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ thank you for reviving this book to my TBR!
